Work begins on the man den
Work begins on the man den
Back in November 2006, I decided I needed a place to smoke my cigars in the winter (I will not smoke in the house). My wife said I could take our detached garage and convert it into a man den. Because of all the crap in my garage and the kids’ activities, I’ve been putting it off. This year I’m turning 40, and my wife told me to focus on the man den and forget all the other projects until it’s completed. It’s time to do something for myself, she said.
So I've started. And when I say I've started, I mean I've taken the "before" pics and done some preliminary measurements and cleaning. It looks like the room will be about 16' x 12', I'm going to run a new 100-amp circuit directly to the garage (as it is now, whenever I turn on one of my saws the lights in the house dim), I'm going to run satellite and internet cables underground from the house to the garage, put in a fridge and a space heater, some comfortable chairs, my humidor, and all the trimmings of a good manly space.
This is going to take a while because there's a ton of crap in the garage I have to get rid of and we're really busy running back and forth to horse shows, little league, etc.... but I'm going to do it.
Here are some photos, and if anyone's interested, I'll try and keep updating this thread with my progress. The first is the view from the front, where I hope to put the den. The second photo is the back view, including crap, which will remain storage.

Well here it is. We've completed the Man Den. I cleaned out a ton of crap, had a new electrical service added to the garage, rewired with some nice, neat conduit, added the dividing wall, installed DirecTV and surround sound, put in a beverage center... we're ready to go!

Wow! What a change, now thats a Man Cave, great work. Is that the ceiling fan that rotates both fans while they spin?

No they dont. When I first saw them at lowes I was like that would be awsome, and have this giant spining blade in your room. But it just spins the outer blades.
