Baseball salaries

I found this article funny, it is the under and overpaid of the MLB..I just think it is funny when a guy making 7.7 mill a baseball season is considered underpaid. This is not including all the kiss a$$ they get from restaurants, fans, car dealer, bars and what ever else they get on top. They travel the world and get the entire winter off, and half the spring in Florida and this is not even including all the hot chicks they bang!!. I don't know, is it just me?? or is there something wrong saying that baseball players making millions are underpaid..I just hate to hear this when people are making a honest living making a few hundred a week and young families are losing thier homes and grown men are winning that they only made under 10 milion a year..There is just something wrong in this world today..

Becoming a Major League Baseball Player is one of the hardest career's to accomplish. They worked as hard, or harder their whole life to accomplish this carrer. You cant blame the players.

You call playing a game for a living "work"? I don't think so.

You think that's bad? A-Rod makes more $$ than the Florida Marlins.

And that chump ain't worth that money at all....even when he was with the Tx Rangers. But when George "the checkbook" Steinbrenner wants another ring, why the hell not ask for the moon.

The money is there because millions of fans go to games, buy merchandise and purchase products that advertise during these games. Sure hotel prices and prices are bars close to stadiums will climb but you could avoid those and never have to pay out of pocket for any of that huge check they are getting.

Point is they are the best at what they do and have a fanbase large enough to support this type of money coming in, whats wrong with that?

Just because you or I think they make too much doesnt mean a damn thing, clearly who ever cuts that check feels they are worth it

You also do not realize that all major-leaguers, when they are on the road, get at least $125 per diem expense money---and they have their hotel paid for by the team, and you should see the spread of food put out for them in the clubhouse after every game!

It really is.

Only 750 men get the CHANCE to make that kind of money. Out of 6 billion people in this world.

As for winters off, if you call working out all winter to stay in shape and keep your job while avoid scrutiny being "off", so be it.

I'm not defending the salaries, but having played ball in high school...I'd rather coach and yell at the players myself if I did anything sports-related at a high level.

I agree! On top of that, look at all the money "movie stars" make. Baseball players entertain millions of people also. Baseball is a wholesome sport loved by many. Why not pay them what the stars make if not more.

I don't begrudge them the money---Nolan Ryan said, "Nobody's woth a million dollars a year , but I would be a fool to turn it down."

A-Rod's reported salary: $22,708,525 for 2008

comes out to $140,176 per game, and three at-bats per game $46,775 per at-bat

That's very underpaid compared to the players - and the players can't play without umps.

Screw the major leaguers and their inflated salaries - I won't pay the price to go to a major league game. I'll stick with the minors where the kids aren't making squat.

Overpaid??

Can you be "overpaid" if someone is willing to pay you that salary? If someone came to you and offered to pay you 3,4,5,10 times what you make now to do the same job would you say "no"? The reason the players make so much is because the owners are making a ton more. A-Rod makes $22 mil because the "business" ,the team, is making 10,20,30 times that. The owner of the business is willing to pay him that so he can make more and more. It's not greed on anyones part. It is good business. The fans sopport the salaries no matter what they are.
