Yeah, I know.. all I meant was that the guru got another 3 rings - or was it four?- with Shaq there (and he WAS a friggin' force in the paint) and how many since Kobe ran him off?

All I meant was that Jackson has been the most fortunate coach in the history of the game in that he's had the best player the game has ever seen (Jordan), and then 2 of the other top 10 (Shaq and Kobe).

He can't and doesn't coach defense and his triangle offense doesn't work without the top shooters/scorers.

I don't think he's able to motivate a team anymore.. Not Doc Rivers-style.

 

Just think; I live about 67 miles from L.A and can't stand the Lakers. In fact, I can't stand anything from Ca!

Phil may be a little wierd, but he's a good guy and a great coach. He went to high school in the same town as me and has come back several times even though his family is long gone.

I'm not a fan of the Lakers or Kobe, but he is a great player. That being said, how many coaches could have taken this team to the finals? I'd say very few. If all it takes is one great player why haven't the Cav's won a championship with Lebron? (I'm not saying Lebron is the next Jordan, but he's great).

Jackson is tied for the most championships with Red Auerbach, but has a higher win percentage and has done it in fewer years coaching. If he isn't the best coach ever, he's certainly in the top 2 or 3.
