OK I have had enough........
definitely not my favorite Mustang but I'm not the one buying it. Looks like a pretty great deal for you. But it and drive through the summer then over winter swap in the V8 and turn some heads next year.
My buddy had one when we were younger, his kept going through flywheels, but it was a 4 cyl.
good luck with it

I wish I still had my '86 GT... That was a cool car for me, but I traded it to pay the sales tax for the F150 when I got it! I also wish I had some pics of it... DOH!!! Owned it for 12 years and I don't have a single, freaking pic of it... I am an idiot!
When I was a kid, all I wanted was a 1976 Cobra II.. Just like the one Farrah drove on Charlies Angels...
My neighbor was building up a nice '66 2+2 and I would bug him every day (I was 13 years old). Ever since then, I've been a Mustang fan, but have only owned the '86.... There is not a single year Mustang I would not own...
To po1911, I say go for it and have a blast with it!! If I ever win the Lotto and I'm able to build the shop I want, I'll have every single year Mustang in it!!
I am jealous!!

My brother had one for years with the 302 in it. It was the first of the 3 mustangs he has had. His was fun to drive but it kinda looked like a chick car to me. Maybe you could man it up by cramming a big block in it or something. Hell it is only money right?
Like it or not, the Mustang II will always be the "red headed stepchild" of the Mustang world. I understand that the vehicle "saved" the Mustang nameplate for Ford (there was really no appreciable market for a gas-guzzling muscle car during that era) but that doesn't mean it was good.
You'll likely get the occassional smile from a grocery store passerby, but they will always represent an asterisk within the collector car hobby that is populated primarily by nerds and computer geeks with a fetish for all things cheesy from the 70's.....:o
