is the iphone ever going to be on other wireless networks, particularly alltel? im in the market for a new phone and wondering what to do, im not changing networks, so its either use my insurance to get a new razr for the $50 deductible or get the LG glimmer for $129 i tried out the glimmer today at alltel and i really liked it, and i have never really liked this razr...but if the iphone is coming to alltel anytime soon ill just get the razr for now

i got an email from apple saying a new iphone is coming out soon thats faster, cheaper and thinner

 

Alltel is being sold to Verizon. It will make them the largest carrier and I'm sure Apple would love the chance to sell them phones.

any idea when they are selling? cuz it sure would suck to be caught in the middle of a merger when trying to get a new phone

 

I believe AT&T will be the only carrier for awhile. i remember when they launched it was said at&t would be the only carrier for 2yrs.

 

The price was right. The only change right now is that your bill will be red.

 

Att still has quite a while on the exclusive deal to carry the iphone.
If you were on another GSM carrier you could purchase one and unlock it and use it on another network.

 

The merge is awaitig approval from the government. Once they merge you'll be able to get Verizon Phones. They have the Voyager? Heard it's like the Iphone...

 

yeah the voyager is pretty cool but i think the glimmer from alltel is pretty cool even though it isnt a smart phone but i have an ipod touch for wifi

 

Have you seen what Samsung has just came out with? Maybe it'll come over to Verizon ...

Allhell, Verizon, Sprint/Nextel will never be able to support the current or next gen iPhone. All of these carriers operate on CDMA. AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM. The iPhone is GSM only and there is no way to change it over. I doubt that it will ever be offered in a CDMA version. Outside of North America the only other place that uses CDMA is South Korea. It just isn't worth the cost to make a new version.

The new I Phone is priced at $199.00 Thats a pretty good deal considering it is faster and smaller than the original.
