US armed forces massed on the border of Iraq in 1998 expecting to mount a full scale attack. We were regularly bombing them in 1999 when I was in the region. By the time the US went into Iraq in '03, we had been engaged in open hostilities for more than a decade. We had a lot of military men and women working very hard in the desert that cared!

We're already screwed. Oil prices are ridiculous, we can't just get out of Iraq, stop spending money there, and stop poking the bee hive in general.

Also, it's going to be a tough situation for who ever becomes president because oil prices have peaked at record highs when we got our "stimulous" aka send our money overseas checks.
