Yea' well.....

I'll kick Kimbo's A$$ ! ;-) LOL Just kidding. That guy is a freaking animal !

However;

1) He doesn't have the conditioning needed to go 5, or even 3 five minute rounds in proffessional MMA.

2) He is not well rounded enough, to compete with true proffessional MMA masters.... at least not yet.

3) He has very little experience in the ring "with true MMA" masters.

All this said, if Kimbo comes after me, I'm going to tell him that "you guys" were the ones talking $#!+ ! :-) LOL

Kimbo kind of reminds me of a 'smaller' Bob Sapp. Same thing with that guy.... If he gets ahold of you when he's fresh, he will tear you in half..... But just too much mass for his heart and lungs to keep moving, for any length of time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, Uriah Faber and Jens Pulver !!!!!! Wow ! What a battle by two of the best MMA masters on the planet ! Maybe "the best" in their weight category ! I was really surprised that Pulver held in there for the full five rounds ! And seeing as that was the first time Faber has ever had to go five full rounds in his career, I think he was somewhat surprised too !
All in all, just an incredible fight ! Niether one of those guys were losers in that one !
Whooo Hooo !
Fish
Put him in the ring with Crocop, Mir, Gonzaga, or Emilienko and see what he does. He was a great street fighter that fought "no rules". If you watch his fights they would pause for a second, not let it go to the ground, and were pretty loose on the rules for Kimbo. The Gannon fight showed a "trained" fighter gave him serious problems. I've only found 6 or so of his fights online... makes you wonder if there's a few loses on there they don't show. He is an animal and a good fighter, but not a great one. He is training with Bas Rutten though.
That English dude's cauliflower ear was mesmerizing. I could not take my eyes off it when it was flopping around in slo-mo on the replays...One of the grossest things I've seen in an MMA match.
Honestly, I think Kimbo was on his way to losing that fight and he benefitted greatly from the early stoppage. Both guys were gassed and had suffered lots of damage. If it went back to the ground one more time, Kimbo was done.
Neither guy was too impressive, IMO. I think any top tier UFC heavyweight or even some light heavyweights would wear those guys down and dominate them in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.
BTW, I think the stoppage was BS. Same with the finger in the eye stoppage of the earlier fight on CBS. They should have let them bang, just like Pulver/Faber. I know the safety of the fighters is important, but for a big event the ref and doc should let it go a little longer, IMO.
I don't know if he was sick or what last night but he looked terrible and against a third tier fighter. Kimbo is never going to be able to compete with the top UFC heavyweights. Not by a long shot. Maybe if he was 15 years younger and had loads of time to train.
Honestly I saw the fight and i think it was bs .Yea Kimbo is a great brawler but the but the big eared had kimbo down . had one hand of kimbos under his knee and was tearing at kimbos head . Kimbo couldn't do anything . He could even defend hisself IMO . But the ref stood them up . I could believe it . He just saved Kimos a$$. And of course you know Kimbos gonna come out on top when standing toe to toe . I just thought it was some what thrown in KIMBO's favor . And how about that chick that won !! Damn , Who would like to go a couple round s with her ? lol
Kimbo is about as overrated as you can get. After he lost to Sean Gannon, Gannon went and fought in UFC 52 (I think 52) and got destroyed. Put Kimbo up against any fighter that doesn't resemble a punching bag and he would lose. The guy he fought sucks. Everyone he has fought sucks. In his 3 professional fights, his opponents have a combined record of 33-34. Not exactly high level talent.
Saw on an MMA board that going into the fight against Kimbo, the Colossus guy was 2 - 7 over his last 9 fights.
Yet he managed to deliver 22 unanswered elbows to the head when he got Kimbo to the ground in that crucifix at the end of the 2nd round. And he nearly choked Kimbo out with a guillotine in the 1st (some are saying Kimbo tapped).
Not to mention that the ref stood them up when Colossus had Kimbo in side control.
Then the ref stops the fight in the 3rd when both fighters are standing? WTF?
Basically, Colossus Thompson is a tomato can that was brought in to lose to Kimbo.
Both guys showed some heart, but they were absolutely gassed at the end of the second. As soon as Kimbo landed a couple of shots in the 3rd, the ref called the fight without allowing momentum to swing back to Thompson. Fixed? Hard to prove. But Kimbo is the darling of Elite XC and the headliner, and the show was running late.
IMO, if that fight had been allowed to go on, Kimbo would not have lasted another 60 seconds.
man you guys are harsh on Kimbo. This guy has almost zero training and still wins. Give him another 6-8 months of intense training and this guy is going to cause some damage.
On a side note: Anyone think his beard protects him from some of the punches to the jaw?
If you think we are harsh, you should go to an MMA board, lol.
Kimbo is exciting to watch and has devastating punching power. Clearly, CBS was looking for a hightlight reel KO for the MMA debut on a national network. IMO, they want to build Kimbo up for future events. But Thompson decided to make a fight out of it and exposed Kimbo as one dimensional.
I think the long time MMA fans are a little PO'd because they feel that there are many fighters who would school Kimbo, yet Kimbo is headlining the first ever 'big' network TV card.
Sure, Kimbo will get better. Maybe lots better. But he's getting a late start. I'd like to see him fight again, but right now, there are lots of guys who could take him once the fight transitions from brawling to MMA.
