i have my doubts that they'd do anything more than laugh at this and probably remind him that if not for the speeding, none of his time would be wasted

The speeding is irrelevant. It just as easily could have been a checkpoint. They messed up BIG time, first when they rented a car to someone with a suspended license, and again when they linked the wrong data to the OP's rental agreement.

But you're right, they probably would just throw an invoice away, but I've got a few friends who became lawyers who, if nothing else, could be a real pain in the *** if Budget didn't pay the invoice

My friend tried to get arrested at a DWI stop. He told the cop that he drank like 10 beers and such... in reality he didn't drink anything but water and soda... and he said he wanted to go to the police station to get a urine test. So they arrested him, threw him in the back of a cruiser and brought him to the police dept and locked him in a small cell for about a 15 minutes. They did a breathalizer, and it came back zip... not even a trace! So the police told him that he could go and they asked him why he told them that he drank, but really didn't. He responded, "Oh, I heard when you go to jail they give you food, and I didn't get paid this week."

Amen!

Used to rent about 2-3 cars/week, 40 weeks per year. Picked one up in Richmond & drove to the project site. Was waiting for a delivery & to kill time went through the glovebox. Found about enough pot for a decent sized joint laying loose in the bottom.

Coulda been trouble.

Don't you guys realize Manual's story is most likely purely fictional. The truth stopped at "friend" because we all know he doesnt have any. Its basically a cry for attention.

Mr. ManualF150, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I thought it was pretty funny. Wouldn't hurt to try that... My boss still owes me some money for mowing his yard, so I'm a bit hungry myself.

You know I was thinking about what would have happened if I drove the extra 50-100 yards and crossed the border into Oklahoma. Would the Texas County cop been able to follow me and pull me over in another state? I seriously could read the Welcome to Oklahoma sign not to far down the road.

And just to lt everyone know I wasnt speeding dangerously. It was 10-11 pm and I was in the middle of now where. I only saw a car about once every 5-10 minutes and I was doing 78mph on a highway. And this cop was on the side of the road with his lights off.

And havent heard from Budget yet. I am going to call them tomorrow if I dont hear anything.

Those small one horse towns search every car that they stop for the most part. Dont want to get stopped there. Gotta watch those rent a car places they will rent you a car will all types of expired credentials and you dont know who has been hauling what in them. I go over them meticulously before I accept them.
