Lost the keys to my 88 F150. Trying to get the old assembly out, but can't get it. Any help?

1) drill it out
2) slide hammer
3) drive in pin on side of cylinder so you can slide cylinder out

you put the key in the ignition turn to accessories on the back side of your steering colum directly under the key cylinder there should be a small hole take a small nail and there is a small button you push and pull the cylinder with the key.

Edit just saw that you lost the keys use a hammer and a screw drive

We got our keys stuck in the ignition of our Windstar... and the Ford service dept. went crazy trying to get the ignition out...

My parents got charged like $400 for a new cylinder, reprogram and labor...

You guys see he just joined today and has no posts. Word of wise dont be the hero to help out the guy with "i lost my keys", "i locked my keys inside my truck" excuse. It could be someone who really did lose their keys, or just as easily be someone who stole a vehicle or trying to steal one.

I don't have any advice to the OP.

I would try the drilling and a slide hammer. the only problem with that is you could break something inside the steering colum. a new cylinder is about $16.

I didn't own that model truck!

But I highly recomend going to autozone or similar place. Buy a service manual,it will show you how to replace the cylender.

It will require some basic tools.

Its very easy to remove when you have the key to it. about the only way to take it out if you dont have a key is to break it. I dont know how long ford dealerships keep key records but maybe it you bring the title to your tuck to a dealer they can make you a copy of the origonal, if you still have the origonal key cylinder

Thanks for the thought. I called my buddy at Ford that I but all my parts from and they didn't start keeping those type records until '98. Guess I'll just have to get a locksmith out.
