A Kinda cool story of a japanese soldier
There is another story like that but happened on guam. When i was out there last year i went to the little museum that they have for the guy and i went to see the hole in the ground that he lived in. The story is pretty much the same. He lived in the jungle till about 1972 and wouldnt surrender. They had to get one of his old childhood friends to come talk him out of the jungle.
Amazing story.
When I was on Okinawa, Japan there were cliffs at the south end of the island. Rather than face the dishonor of defeat many of the soldiers chose to take their lives by jumping off the cliffs. Just training on that island would kick your butt, so it's hard to imagine an invasion and defense of the place.
As destructive as it was to everyone including all paranoia and concerns since it happened, those bombs probably saved a lot of lives on both sides. It's a shame it had to happen that way, but many we and our kids will know better than to do it again.
I can think of nothing but mass respect for anyone that would defend their honor and that of their country to such extremes.

i love reading about war history. I have a few japanese things from world war 2 that my grandpa brought back, 2 guns a leather ammo case about three hundred bullets for the rifle still on the origonal stripper clips, a belt, bayonets, and japaneseand philipino money some with blood still on it. The rifles with the bayonets are as tall as me. im 5'9" the average japanese was 5'2".
