Thieves Targeting Cat Converters

Saw a local news story about people's converters are being stolen. Thieves are cutting the things off while the cars and trucks are sitting in the owner's driveway. Seems that there is platinum inside those damn things. Small amount, but platinum all the same. Didn't know that. Crackheads unite! - Og

I wish I could do that, but unfortunately all I can do in that situation is call 911 and yell at the guy. To get out of the murder your life would have to be in danger or a third party's life. Also you can not cause the confrontation or provoke the man to grab a gun and then you shoot him down. Laws suck, but unless you want to go to jail for life, then I would suggest just calling the police and maybe buy a taser so you can shock the hell out of him. At least you won't go to jail for life with that one

As satisfying as that may seem, death is permanent, but torture is fun!
I would subdue the person, and then hook a battery charger to their nuts.
I would wrap their body in duct tape too, only because it is a b|atch to get off!

Dr. Evil..............

Accually guys my state has the "castle doctrine" law, which states if my life is threatened or someone is on my property without my consent i can legally use lethal force. (this EXCLUDES the mail man, ups, ect...)

There's about 5-10 grams of platinum in most catalytic converters today. I don't know what value that translates in to as far as precious/scrap metals.

30 dollars a gram, so almost 300 dollars.

Mine too. Who would have thunk lowering the truck would be a theft deterrant.
