Took truck in...99850 miles on odo....bought May 26th 2003.
1. Front end to be rebuilt; Ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings and arms.
2. Rear diff to be totally rebuilt since 2nd time for symptoms (humming at 40 and 70) love those 8.8's.
3. Power sterring hoses to be replaced since there is an on off leak there at the pump.
4. All the CoPS will be replaced since they pretty much rotted out. And I just replaced my 4th set of plugs that got screwed up from cold firing. Threw codes all over the place. P0307, P305, P0316. ( 0316 is misfire all cylinders at start up.)
5. And that pesky front seat harness belt that DOES NOT want to retract.

Service advisor said cutting it close...story of my life.
But you can say what you will about the extended ESP warrenties Ford has but I think I pretty much doubled my money on it this time in comparison to what I paid for it.
And they gave me a brand new truck to drive around while in for free.
Plus after the a-ss chewing I got for getting the warrenty from Mama...well she has no comment now.

 

Why are they rebuilding the front end? Aren't most of those considered to be "wear and tear" items?

 

Got it back. all new CoPs. Front end in. New clutch pack and bearings for rear axle and the belt tensioner with new belt for the front seat. about 2600 in work= 50 buck deductable. Fords supposed to be "longest driving, more vehicles longest on the road yadayada. there's nothing normal wear and tear when it comes to shining thier bravado.
