Which at todays prices only takes 14 cents of corn to make a gallon of milk
Since when do we make milk out of corn? And what does milk have to do with gasoline?

Now that farming has become profitable again urbanites think we need to get farming communities back on the brink of poverty again just so they can have cheap food. Which at todays prices only takes 14 cents of corn to make a gallon of milk, the rest of the increases is in processing and shipping (due to the price of oil)
How do I respond to a garbage post? Hmmmm. Maybe by posting facts? Would that not be clever?

Ethanol, as we produce it today, is 20% less efficient than gasoline. It takes 450 pounds of corn to produce enough ethanol to fill the tank of the average American automobile. (Think about that for a minute. It also takes about 450 pounds of corn to feed one person for a year.) It is too corrosive to be shipped via pipeline and must be trucked to distribution points. Added to these negatives…it takes more than one gallon of fossil fuel, coal, oil, or natural gas, to produce one gallon of ethanol.
To produce a gallon of ethanol requires three to five gallons of water and results in 13 gallons of toxic trash and wastewater. It takes the energy equivalent of 113 liters of gas to treat this waste.
we tolerate $6.00 corn used to produce $2.00 ethanol, which is also subsidized by the government to the tune of $1.05 to $1.38 per gallon, because it would not survive on the free market. Thus, we allow the costs to each of us personally to increase even more, because those subsidies come directly from our tax dollars.

Screw ethanol. Its a fad that will pass. And I hate when I pull up to a gas station and it says that the gas contains ethanol. I just knwo I am going to get crappy gas milage.

Now I feel bad...seriously. Think before you post. Most men in this forum are conservatives. If you want to post liberal drivel, find a Risersupercrew thread. He eats that crap up.

I don't put myself into groups like "liberal" and "conservative." I think that's just another way to put yourself on the line to get flamed, beat up, or worse. I've got a set of ideals in my head that I was taught from birth. It's called Realism.. Maybe it's a bit skewed at times. I try not to post without the knowledge first.

It's the internet. I don't hold many people on the internet in high regard. This site is better than most.

God I wish I had some beer.

1. Oil company greed
2. Bush
3. High taxes

It IS due to the following:

1. OPEC
2. World demand
3. World economy - and the continuing fall of the dollar
4. High costs of refining and transportation
5. Our dependence on foreign oil, and now foreign refined gasoline
6. American desire for big SUV's and trucks, keeping domestic demand too high to fulfill domestically

Folks, if you want to drive a big gas guzzler, that is your privilege, but you must be prepared to pay for that privilege. We pay less for gasoline here than in almost every other civilized country on the planet.

Dont forget #7. The Iraq War.
