liquid nails?

or is there a way to attach it using screws? You could always put in some hollow wall anchors (the plastic things made for brick) in the brick and use a screw if that is possible

Is it wireless? Otherwise aren't you going to have to wire it behind the brick? Does it have a spot for screws? If so just drill the brick, insert an anchor, and screw the bell to the brick.

If he's deaf WTF good is a ringbell gonna do?? Kinda like braile on a drive-up ATM..... Anyways, it would be better to use an adhesive rather than drill holes. Try out some gorilla glue that should do it or as Craz3d said, epoxy. there are many 2 part epoxies made for brick and metal.

I'll second the vote for liquid nails. It will adhere faster and probably better than gorilla glue with less expansion. I used some to adhere some copper house numbers to the exterior of my home since I didn't want to bother drilling into the brick. Worked better than anything else that I tried.

If it's an apartment I would imagine he might one day move out and want to take it with him. Anything permanent may not be a good option. Screws would be best.

When your deaf or hard of hearing, you are probably taught ASL(American sign language) and the grammar for that is completely different from English. Now, idk his situation but thats what makes the most sense. Hopefully he'll be able to clear that up.
