Something had to be done about the **** poor performance the Mavericks had this year.

I liked him as a person, but it seems very rare that a player actually becomes an elite coach. For every one that has succeeded I can show you 10 that where killed

That's pretty stupid that Cuban would fire a coach with one of the best winning percentages for a coach with less than 250 games under his belt.

In the regular season. But in the playoffs he is 23-24. Thats terrible.

is mark going to fire players too? he's a good coach, the players account for a lot in both the W and the L columns...

The players play to the system the coach tells them to. Bad system, bad team.

bad players, bad team...it's a circular argument that no one wins

a bad system doesn't win that many games, period--it's a weak argument, imo

it occasionally happens, but coaches rarely lose games for a team--even less occasionally do they miss layups for a team or fail to rebound for a team...but i understand we all look at this differently and sometimes a change of atmosphere catalyzes players

johnson is a tough coach, he's hard on everyone, including himself, and sometimes that atmosphere wears down some players...maybe a new coach will spark a championship--that would be great

i hope johnson finds a good team/owner and continues coaching

Johnson will coach somewhere else if he wants to. He is a good coach and even better person, but maybe Dallas was not a good fit for him and his style. I will bet you money that it will not stop here though. I see at least one starter and two bench player being dealt out of Dallas. Although Mark Cuban is a weirdo, at least he is passionate and really wants to win. Not all clubs can say they about their owners

I cant stand Dallas or San Antonio, no offense to you Texans. I just dont like SA style of play (its boring) and I dont any of the players on Dallas. Let's Go Lakers.

I dont think his firing will help the team at all. New coach requires time to get things going. More problems ahead. Think the J Kid trade hurt the team the most.

Devin Harris isn't near as good a playmaker as JK. The trade wasn't the problem, it was the system. It was proven in the 2006 finals. I can't believe it took Mark Cuban this long to fire him.

Johnson is a good guy and will be a good coach. So far, he has tried to control the offense too much. He has players that can "freestyle" and he is unable to use that. He likes controlled play so much that it throttles the players imagination. He will learn. Kidd has to be able the improvise, same with Dumb Butt(Howard).

Yes, I agree, the Kidd trade was not too smart, but, it was done. Now they need a coach that can take advantage of it.
