I bought some top quality used clubs on ebay. ORLIMAR HIP TI 460 cc DRIVER & VT 830 #3 Fairway Metal for $60. Both reviewed well and I need them, so I pulled the trigger. I also picked up a new putter, a Ray Cook blue goose 3. All 3 come with head covers.

Do the woods have firm or stiff shafts? (Any non-golfers, please do not laugh.)

Nice I have been debating getting a new set but I cant find any that feel similar to the set I have. I am playing with a set of eleven year old Tour Edge clubs that I just absolutely love the way they feel. Now if the person that is swinging the clubs can get his act together then I would be onto something.

My irons are Callaways I bought off Bluejay, I like them alot, very nice. I had some Ping copy irons before, liked them too. The thing I like about the Orlimar big sticks are they border along the PGA's legality lines. I need all the help I can get.

I have a real suspicion that you have a fairly fast swing speed or club head speed. If I am right, you need at least a firm and maybe a stiff shift. A regular shaft will tend to slice on you. Also, if I'm correct, you probably need no more than a 9 degree loft. The less loft, the more distance, if you have good swinghead speed. I could be wrong as I have never seen your swing, but, if you find you slice with the driver, that will be the reason. What happens is the higher speed the club head travels, it tends to flex the shaft, which causes the head to be open at impact(lagging behind). That open face then comes across the ball instead of being square at impact, thus resulting an reverse spin, a slice. If it's not too severe, some of it can be corrected by rotating your left hand to the righ a little.

I can mainly slice with every club, but I have been working on my grip and that's been changing things to my liking. My clubhead speed isn't very fast. When my buddy uses a PW I use an 8. I'm more on feel rather than just smacking the crap out of the ball.
