Condolences, JohnBoy -- sorry to hear that the excitement of your new house is being tainted by such sad news.

I lost my Dad almost 20 years ago to cancer, but when my Mom goes, that's going to be a tough one......

Sorry to hear about your loss Johnboy. My condolences go out to you and your family. It's not going to be an easy time, hope you can stay strong..

I know, I lost my mother in the late 80's to cancer, she was 48yo, i was in my early 20's. Then I lost my Dad in the mid 90's, he was 56, had a subarachnoid brain hemerage, I was in my early 30's. Not a day goes by I don't think of them both.

Hope this isn't a April fools joke..

Moms Border Collie is turning 13yrs old this month and Saturday she called me flat out balling that something was wrong with Socks. I went over there and she has a tumor under her tail for the last 4 years (the vet said it was ok). Apparently that tumor got infected a couple days before and mom didnt notice it. Im not going into detail's but the only word i will say is Maggots. We rushed her to the Vet and they said another few hours and she wouldnt have made it (had a 106 fever). Shaved the area, cleaned her up and kept her at the vet until yesterday morning. They have her on 3 antibiotics for the next 2 weeks.

This dog is the most babied, spoiled dog you will ever find and shes smart enough to know that she is going to get people food with her medication. She turned down lunch meat and weenies. Dad went to McDonalds this morning @ 8am and talked them into making him a 20 piece chicken nugget. He then went to Burger King and got her 4 plain whoppers. Atleast it worked, she took all her medicine.

By the end shes probabaly going to end up with steak and a baked tater from the steak house.

Its crazy how attached to animals we all get.

13 years is a good long life for a Collie. I had a 12yo Golden with a tumor on the top of his mouth, stopped eatin and would only drink water.. Took him to the vet and they said put him down this minute. Loved that dog Soo much. Got it for my mom for therapy when she got cancer and lived approx 10 yrs after she passed. Just lost out beloved cat this past August, he was 13, had a tumor in his stomache. I never knew cats could be Soo cool and loving.. Man I miss a lot of things

I dread the day I lose Maggie, she is 12 1/2 but in great health. She had me out last night at 11:00. She had a possum cornered in the back yard. I showed up with the flashlight and it was like "the war is serious now, I have help!" The possum was as big as she is. I had to grab her and pull her off before she got hurt. She keeps the wife and I busy everyday.

Thanks for the kind words, fellas. Unfortunately it is real. She was really young, and she suffered a lot in the last few years. I'm glad she has some relief now.
