Found out yesterday, my wife has early stages of Parkinsons. Not a total surprise as her mother had it, but still pretty sobering. Waiting on an appointment with a neurologists to see about how to medicate.

If you're buying tools specifically for this job, and not trying to build a decent set, just run into sears grab a 7mm swivel socket, and a 3" long 1/4" drive extension. I assume you already have a 1/4" ratchet.
You can buy a whole set of swivels for fairly cheap, but for this job you only need the 7mm. But they can be quite handy so its not bad to pick up the whole set. You can use the 8mm on the hose clamps on your air filter housing/tube clamps.
Craftsman makes a pretty decent tool. Plenty good for the occasional DIY job, but can break pretty easy if you're abusing them. But they do have a really good policy for warranty, and will pretty much take back any and everything as long as its not torched or cut in half.

Sorry to hear that Jim. I know it's not curable, but how treatable is it ?
