Hey Pat - we are going to Austin this weekend for a blues concert at Antone's. Any suggestions on good places to eat down there? I had heard that Casino El Camino is a good place to go eat and have drinks - any thoughts or other suggestions?

I'm not Pat, but Threadgill's used to be good for a great chicken fried steak, but I would hate to waste one of those on Glenn. Chuy's is good.

I didn't care much for Chuy's last time I went there. Never been to Threadgill's. Chicken fried steak is not really my thing tho. I'll have to see if they have a website and check it out. I'm really looking for stuff down around 6th street - places where the locals go and know is good stuff.

Threadgill's is a local hang out. They are famous for their "down home" cooking and the entertainers that hang out there. Chuy's may not be what it used to be. I liked it back when Mitch was in school there, so that has been a few years!

I found Threadgill's website. Looks like a place I'd hang out.

It's about as Southern as you can get when they list garlic cheese grits as a vegetable.

Depends on what you are in the mood for.

El Royal down at the end of 5th street kinda across from LR dealership has good mexican food
Wahoo's Fish tacos down town is good, not sure if they have drinks or not
There's a kick *** burger place on 6th street forgot the name of it, its about halfway down 6th

Thanks! Casino El Camino is a burger place/bar on 6th. They have some really awesome sounding burgers on their menu. May be the same one.

I wish 4 would get here I have my 100# of corn and bucket of apples in the truck and ready to go to camp tonight. This work thing is really cramping my slacker life style.
