from what I understand, the income he made during the years in question was made out of country and that was the basis of his defense.

He claimed that the US government had no right to tax foreign income.


Of course, he's not in jail yet. Several years of appeals are going to happen.

 

It is a little tough to tell where the income came from considering he hasn't filed a tax return since 98.
