I feel so fortunate to get to be in the 3rd darkest orange on the map. I am so pleased with our taxes, man.

I'm glad to be in Missouri right now..... I guess I Don't understand something, but if government "doesn't" control gas prices, why is it more expensive in higher populated areas?

Supply and demand? Most things are more expensive in higher populated areas. Ever been to NYC? The State governments do set the taxes on gas though, that's why NC is all yellow or orange and SC is all green.

And the funny thing is they actually have refineries there, so there's less cost associated with moving the fuel to get it to the consumer.

CA has refineries, but nowhere near enough to satisfy their demand. There is absolutely no way any new refineries are going to be built in CA, or existing ones modernized, with all the environmental kooks and NIMBY's there. A huge portion of CA's fuel has to be trucked in from elsewhere.

Better rephrase that - you mean not *ALL* the people living there - I would assume most residents are "normal" but there are enough kooks there to give the whole place a bad reputation. Those nutcases deserve it wherever you wish to apply the "correction". Problem is, I bet a lot of them would enjoy taking it where it's been suggested.

True, I did think about that after. Yes, there are some that do deserve it and more.
