I am doing ok, a beater would just be nice to get decent milage around town and inexpensively bounce deer off of in the country rather than my F-150. Once my truck is payed off I am just going to divert the money that I was putting into that into a beater fund. I could get one right now, but I would rather save that money incase something more important comes up that I need it for.

Smart. My posts are directed to the OP. It sounds like he is having a rough time. I hope things get better for him. Unfortunately, it sounds like he needs to make some sacrifices. I know how it is - I lived for 12 years from paycheck to paycheck, with no toys and driving beaters into the ground.

LoL... I am a Dave Ramsey listener, I am trying to work the plan... Having to sell my house to get outta the rut I am in... I wish I had heard to Dave Ramsey a LONG time ago... I have lived with debt since my first day on a college campus... I am now 27 with a darn good income and STILL living paycheck to paycheck... Times are changing for us and we have goals set... I am not THAT far upside down on my truck... I owe 29K and private party is 29K... They are still on lots for over 30K just need to wait out this fuel BS I suppose...

If you can squeeze out 2 grand from somewhere, go get a 4 banger beater and wait it out. Use the truck when you NEED it but drive the sh1tbox whenever you can. I managed driving beaters for 12 years as my ONLY wheels - I'm sure you could do it too. If I were towing a boat periodically, I'd much rather do it with that diesel than a 150. Just because you live in TX doesn't mean you HAVE to drive a truck every day unless it's your livelihood.

Plus if the beater does go on strike you have a truck you can depend on as a backup.

Only thing is if those 6.0's the turbos stick, so it wouldn't hurt to take it for as spin once in awhile. They are not made to sit.

Being that he has a boat, I'm betting the truck would be running just about every weekend for the next several months anyway.

LoL Yeah its been a good spring at the lake so far... We do love the towing capability... I may wait it out... My wife drives it to work and I drive an accord for home health PT... I am upside down on my accord too so I need to probably get outta that and into a 5,000 car instead... anyway, thanks again!

Keep the Accord - it will hold its resale no matter what. Whoever drives farther to work should be using it. I'm suggesting a beater for the other go to work car, then decide who uses which one.
