Hello everyone.

I have found a 2005 Linchon Navigator with every option ever possible you can get on this truck with only 32K miles asking 20K for it through E-bay. It is in Texas right now, and I live in Ohio. I want to buy it but scared to death on buying something I have never set my eyes on, let a lone drive it. Have any of you ever brought a car or truck without seeing it in person or driving it?

I have an 02 F-150 right now that will be trading in due to the truck finally breaking down after 276,000 miles. The dealer says that take trade in's even though I'm in Ohio. (not sure how that would work)

Do any of you guys work for Ford or know much about Navigators? Ive been trying to research the Internet to see if they are problematic or not?

They're solid trucks and don't really have any "special" problems that I know of. Although I've never bought a car or truck off of ebay, I did buy a boat off ebay. Make sure the seller has a high rating, good feedback, been a member for awhile, etc. Not some n00b offering a great deal. Also, get the VIN number off of the truck. Have the dealership run an OASIS report on it and send it to you. That will tell you exactly when and why the truck was in ANY Ford dealership for work. You should run a Carfax on the vehicle.

The one I'm looking at on e-bay is from a dealers lot.

they are about 1,500 miles away from me. The only way they can take a trade in is if I drive down there, if not, its up to me to sell my truck.

They will ship the Navigator up to Ohio for 900 dollars, then I have a 3 day money back guarantee if I do not like the truck or if it has problems. I would have to split the cost of the shipping if I return it.

I wish dealers around here would sell what I'm wanting to buy instead of finding them down in Texas.

I kinda like the 3 day money back if I don't like it, but I'm also stuck with my truck though that I was wanting to at least trade in.

 

navigators are the best suv's ull ever buy, my mom has had 3 in the past, and never had any problems with them.

 

If it's the black one in Houston, it has a clear title and some of the warranty left. I would ask about any extended warranty that may be transferable. It is also a 4x4, don't expect fuel mileage of any kind. The 2005 will have the 5.4 engine and was prone to fuel injector failures, some of which were catastrophic causing complete engine replacement. Make sure the extended warranty from Ford for the injector goes with the truck. They were also prone to a rear axle whine. Here are the TSBs for that year model from Alldata:

FWIW, trucks like these are not moving off of the lots. Most folks are buying econoboxes for the fuel mileage. If you have any bargaining power at all with these folks, I'd hammer them for a lower price.

 

I just bought my truck on e-bay about a month ago. Mine was only 2 hours away from me. Private seller with no trade. The truck was better than expected. I had a positive experience. If you go down and don't like it you can always walk away. My wife was concerned that once you click it it's yours. I told her not until they get the check.

 

You enlist the services of a local mobile mechanic and have them check the Nav out for you.

I'd place this ahead of a Carfax in terms of priority. Way ahead. Really.

As long as there is a title that is in existence, and the vehicle works fine and the mechanic tells you that the vehicle is solid and has no body or flood damage of any kind, Carfax becomes pointless.

wow, how the heck did you know which truck I was talking about? Texes is huge and for some reason you knew exactly where the truck is located But yes, thats the one I'm Interested in.

Thanks for the information on the fuel injectors, that kind of scares me a little bit, I don't need my engine to go out due to a faulty injector, but it does have 32K miles on it right now, so it still has a factory warranty left, but I will be getting power train warranty if I do buy this truck.

The dealer over there I think is Messing with me..they have it bidding on e-bay right now at 20K, and the reserve is at 24K...when I talked to that dealer, he told me there is no negotiating the price of this truck what so ever, he can only give me 200 bucks less then what the reserve is at????

so I take it you can't deal with price or something??
