Wondering if anybody is taking Krav Maga.

I havent taken any but I really want to. Thats probably the most effective, real world fighting technique that you'll ever learn.

My wife has been taking Krav Maga for about six months now. She loves it.

It's really nothing new, just a new trend term to attach to something our military has been doing for years, as well as other countries besides Israel.

Within limits set by laws of war, it's also been applied to combat not of a hand to hand nature.

One of my friends is taking it and likes it.

He had done Akido for many years and I think he was looking for a change of pace.

Yes it is. Short of going to MCRD and learning basic and then adv. fighting styles. The techniques taught by KM instructors is very useful and very effective. I worked with an Israeli who served in the Israeli forces and he showed me some things he was taught... all I can say is .
If applied correctly, you can disarm/dismember/maim and render any subject incapacitated very quickly.

If you have the interest, time and dicipline I say go for it.
If you're looking into it just for kicks, then it's not the right path.

Oh... and if you ever get into a conflict, by law (just like Marines) you must inform the person you're trained to kill... otherwise you can be in deep doo doo.
