raptor 660 engine problems

My friend has an 01 raptor, 700 big bore kit, big carb, race cams, all decked out. well he was racing it, and it lifted the cylinder, pulled the bolts out. would this be possible to heli coil? or should I Let a machine shop do it? I can buy it from him right now for $2200, its in great shape.

id say let a machine shop deal with it or buy a new engine....something went wrong if that happened

make sure the trannys been redone on it. the 01's were prone to having them go out. but if its built like you say its prob already been done.

Get a machine shop to do it. Hopefully they will be able to. If not you may be looking at some new cases

As long as your comfortable diving into engines and have a press, impact wrench or pullers, and assembly lube you will be good to go

Only problem is if it happened once, it is bound to happen again

If you do so decide to by the raptor, you have to get a special yamaha rtv sealer for when you put the two cases back together. The is no gasket due to the tight tolerances(sp).

i wouldnt helicoil it. get a machine shop to open the holes up and rethread them and put stronger bolts in. but if it happened once, more than likely will happen again. idk id buy a predator lol.
