Need computer speaker help

I bought some amplified speakers for my moms computer here and having trouble hooking them up. I have them hooked to my lap top and they work good. I have them hooked up properly to the desk top but no sound wants to come. I googled it and it something about hooking it up to the sound card. So I googled hooking the sound card to speakers and all it is, it a bunch of sites wanting to sell me stuff. I am sure it is fairly simple but just don't know how to do it. Your help is appreciated please and thank you

Usually speakers and soundcards are color coded. On my computer the sound card and the plug for the speakers is green.

I built my custom computer myself with a friend, i have an aftermarket Xi-Fi soundcard, and it is not color coded.

Find the user manual for the computer, that should tell you which jack to use.

X-Fi's come with a sticker to put on the backplate so they are color coded. Maybe you just didn't see it since it's mostly clear.

Turn them on and the volume wide open, then start playing a song and keep trying different plugs.

It should be the green plug though if they are color coded. Also check that the sound isn't muted in Windows and the volume there is up. If all of the above fails check your Device Manager and see if there's any exclamation marks next to a device or any that say they are unknown.

I did have them green to green. i tried the plugging them into every port in the back and got nothing. When I plugged them in I go this thing that said "plugged in an audio device" or somthing along those lines, clicked on that, got a window and there was some sound test on there and am getting good sound out of them from there but still can't get any volume out of them on any internet videos or music like youtube. Any other ideas

Check your device manager and make sure you don't have any errors with your drivers. Make sure the sound isn't on mute too.
