Don't know and don't care, when the needle goes below 1/4 I put gas in it. I suppose I've had months with less than $100 and I *know* I've had months go over $1000.
I'm retired - don't have to drive to work or go anywhere except the store. When I do want to go somewhere, I go.
Let's see - I've had the truck for 18 months and have put 29k on it. Figure 17 mpg average and maybe $2.75 average price since then, that's $260 a month.
Going somewhat off topic, but I remember the "old days" - in 1966 my parents bought a new Pontiac station wagon with a 421 (6.9 liter) and we kept tabs of mileage for the first 10k just for the hell of it. 12 mpg on premium (required). It had 338 gross horsepower - today it would probably be rated at considerably less than 300. You guys with the trucks that weigh a lot more than that Pontiac with engines putting out a lot more horsepower (and would blow that wagon right off the road) are screaming bloody murder when your mileage gets that bad. Yeah, I know premium gas was 37 cents a gallon back then, but you also have to look at the average wage. My dad made 5 bucks an hour and he had a GOOD job. I was making $2 an hour pumping gas.

No, when I work I make over $500 a day. My goal for this summer is to clear $45,000 which easily gets me through another year of school, only cleared about $28,000 last year but didn't. I also cleared $10,000 in january and february working on the weekends and winter break which was a week off..
