Freaky day (Tornado's) in North Texas!

My new 07 got pounded with hail while I was renting movies. I had just finished up at the Doctors office...got diagnosed with the Flu and Pneumonia, so I figure that I needed to load up on movies. Around 3:30 it started hailing, just as I was trying to leave the movie rental place. I decided to wait the hail out, until I hear the Tornado sirens. Said screw it, and hauled *** home while it was hailing. What was I supposed to do? Be more concerned about my truck? Or get home to huddle with the wife and daughter? I get home, and I can see the rotation a couple miles to the west... my wife and daughter are both crying in the bathroom in the center of the house. I rush to the guest room and snag the mattress to put over them and the tub. I cant even breathe (due to Pneumonia) after I get the mattress over them. It was a pretty intense few minutes until the news station reported the rotation which touched down briefly to the east of my home. Damn we were lucky. The Tornado passed directly over my home! Pretty freaky! We in North Texas are very blessed that no one was hurt.

My truck report. Amazingly, NO DENTS! Quarter size hail and no visual damage.

Well I know it sucks for you Yankees getting the snow lately...but I will definitely trade you!

I was REALLY worried about the truck...until the Tornado sirens went off. Then I said screw the truck, and flew home.

Glad to hear everyone is okay, especially the truck.

We were under a tornado warning her for a while this afternoon. It got pretty dicey for a while. Hail, bright lightning, pounding thunder, pouring rain, 70MPH winds, the works. Hail only got to nickel size. Good thing we missed it.

Is that better? I just got to see the rotation in the clouds this afternoon...years ago, I got to see the funnel. It is possibly the coolest and most impressive sight thatI have ever seen. If I had not seen one years ago, I might have taken pics today.

Glad to see you made it out OK. Try living in the mid west, it is ridiculous the amount of tornado warnings and touch downs we have. About a month after I bought my truck we had about nickel to dime size hail and it ended up causing $1000 damage to it.

We had quarter size today. There were a couple resting on my tarp tonneau cover. It was kinda funny to watch them bounce. Anywho, I have no Idea why my truck was not damaged due to the hail.

We got off with one ding on my daugter's 07 Kia Optima. I was shocked it only had one ding since it hailed so hard. Quite surprising. The other vehicles were fine.

The King Ranch is made with a thicker metal than the rest of those lowly F150's.
