This makes me sick...Only 25 years? Let him rot in solitary confinement until he can rot in hell.

Screw that. Put him in Gen. Pop. with some very bad men. He won't make it 25 years after microwaving a baby.

It is a good thing I am not a cop because this guy would have been shot "trying to escape" for sure.

Simply horrendous but should there be a distinction if he truly was mentally incapacitated to the point that he did not realize what he was doing was wrong?

No, at least not in my mind. Mental Illness seems to be the defense of choice when it comes to god awful crimes, up to and including murder. Was he mentally ill 11 months earlier when the child was conceived? Why didn't the defendant seek medical attention for his condition throughout the pregnancy. If he truely had a history of it, either he or someone close to him should have taken the precautionary steps ahead of time to make sure an event like this didn't occur. I doubt it happened overnight. I'm no doctor but don't these things usually take a while to develope? I could be wrong but if I was on the jury, you'd have a tough time convincing me otherwise.

I don’t know the specifics about this case I was just posing a question. And I agree with you that many people use mental illness as an excuse for their behavior whether it’s justifiable or not.

But what is worse someone who does something because they are unable to differentiate between right or wrong or someone who deliberately makes a decision because they profit from it?

Example; you have a company that knows its product is killing people however they accept this fact and do their best to obfuscate the truth because they are making money. To me that is worse than someone who does something because they are unable to control their behavior due to a serious mental defect that precludes rational thought.

I agree with all of the above said. I am a firm believer in "an eye for an eye."

He should get a bullet to the base of his skull and a shallow, unmarked grave.

I think thats too easy of a way out. I say we get a microwave, cut a hole in the side, forcefully strap him to it with his **** and ***** poking inside, then hitting the "popcorn" button.

Dang... try reading this with soda in your mouth.

But yeah, it's stuff like this is when I think they ought to bring back public executions.

Yeah, a baby can get on your nerves- all that crying, and you can't get them to stop for nothing.

That's when you hand the baby to your spouse and say, "Your turn- I'm going to walk the dog".

Or, when you know they're clean, dry, not hungry, not too hot, not too cool, and nothing visible to show that they're hurting.

Put them in that crib/bassonet/play pen, and let them cry.

After about 10-20 minutes, you'll go in there, and their asleep.

At some point on the trip to the microwave, the opening of the door, the placement of the baby, the closing of the door, or the pressings of the buttons- something should have said, "Dude, you are going too far this time".

That is one of the worst things I have ever heard of. What a shame. Imagine trying to explain this to the child years later.
