My standard digital cable package includes a few HD channels. An extra 5 bucks a month gets me a few more.

No, I'm comparing LCD to Projection. But, I agree with what you said also. Bigger = stretched. However, with a 61" LCD, The picture still looks better than a projection with 61". The fact was letting him know that just because you can get bigger cheaper, not to do it. I was giving him my .02. LCD has better picture quality when you are going size vs. size or etc to another tv type. Analog, digital, magic, whatever.

I did compare the same sizes of each, and LCD was the best. And SAMSUNG is damn near the best manufacturer of LCDs. Besides LG and Sony. They are the top dawgs in LCD tvs now.

Not a believer? Go into a store yourself and compare. It's only my a-hole opinion.

And yes, some local stores have more competitive prices. Sometimes they don't. Find the model you want and shop around, go online, sears, circuit city, best buy, ma and pas tv sales, where ever.

But, the first time I seen HD was on a football game. We were watching it on digital cable, and I made a remark my lcd samsung was better than my buddies phillips. He turned it to the game on hd, and wow, everything was different. Colors, lines, clearity, amazing. It felt like front row.

Actually both my main TVs were projection. One a DLP, and the other an LCD.
Both 61". I also have a regular LCD in my bedroom, 26". My LCD 61" projection does have a better picture than my 26" lcd, but again, they are different. The regular LCD is 1080i only. The 61" is 1080p. I feel the biggest difference between my old and new sets, both the regular LCD and projections was that the new one is 1080p.
As far as a 61" LCD or plasma, at this time, I do not want to pay that much for a TV. Once you get over about 40" the prices get real ugly.

PS, I deal with a small business for my major electronics. They also do repair. By far they are saying the make with the least problems is Panasonic.

My Vizio automatically stretches the screen on my channels that are non-HD. I set it this way to avoid any screen burn in from the black bars on the sides.

The Dell HDTVs do. The screen burn on 18 month old LCD TVs at work are horrid.
