best laptop suggestions

I have to buy a new laptop for a college student and just returned an H P that gave us a lot of trouble. Should we assume that one was a lemon and buy H P again or does anyone have suggestions for a 15 inch dependable core 2 dual. thanks.

I've always used Dell products cause they usually offer 12 months same as cash and I can freeload on them for a year. I do suffer the occasional blue screen of death on all of them, but I still have everyone I have bought for the last 7 years and they all still perform perfectly.

Get a MacBook Pro and you can run OS X or Vista in the same machine.

Love my Dell Latitude. My dad has had a Dell for years and refuses to get a new one..his old one has been used and abused and is still quick as lightning.

I have a Sony Vaio at home that's been just about bombproof, except for a lightning strike which obviously wasn't the computer's fault, but rather the fault of its stupid owner.

My Dell Latitude I use for work has been okay too...just that Dell's customer service and tech support is horrible. God awful, even.

Both my brother and I run Sony Vaio's, but the 13.1" for portability and ease of use on airplanes, and so far, they have been great. The only downside was that Sony seems to load them up with a lot of trial software, but it took me 15 minutes to dump all of it.
