Need some help picking my poison
I'm currently a college kid...
Next semester, i'm going to have to take a math class. Either STAT 171 or Calculus 137.
I like math in general, but which would be less painful?
Any words of wisdom?

Having been through 7 Calculus courses and only two stat classes, I would say Calc is easier once you get the principles down. Probability and Statistics always kicked my *** at test time.....
"You have a bag of 47 marbles, what's the probability you will pick 3 blue and 4 red, if there are 15 red, 15blue and 2 green"
I'd usually guess, hand in the test and then go to the bar. I miss college

Take the calc class, it will be of more use getting you into other classes, espcially if you decide to major in a science/tech field.
I took calc 1, 2, 3 and differential equations... do I use any of it today, nope, but I needed them for the degree.

Take the calc classes. Spend the time and memorize the formulas...once that is done, calc is easy.
I did the three calc, DE, and matrix....do I use any of them? Nope, if Excel can't handle it, I sure the heck don't remember how to do them. But as stated earlier, the degree required it.

Stats was much easier for me -- it was much more logical in my opinion.
The only way I squeaked by with a "C" in my Calc classes was to find a homosexual professor and agree to become his "towel boy" for the better part of 3 months......

pre calc is nothing like calc 1. i have no idea why they call it that. its more of an extension of high school algebra.
Stat is easy but involves a ton of formulas where as calc is hard to begin with but once it clicks its easy as heck

I love this F ing place, always good for a laugh
Stats does involve a lot of formulas, however, for the most part, you can do almost all of it on your calculator if you know how- to use it correctly. It is a calculator driven course for most of the stuff

Give us the course names and your major and we may be more help. If you already posted, sorry I missed it.

Calc 1: F (Not going to class tends to make things difficult!)
Calc 1: A+ (Going to every class make it easier!)
Calc 2: B-
Calc 3: D
Dif Eq: B
And like Bowser and I said, you'll probably never use this stuff after the final exam, except on the EIT exam, there's some calc on there, but it's really basic.
