Diminished Value experience?

so one month ago today a school bus backed over the drivers front corner of my 2007 Jetta w/ 9,000 miles on it. Repairs were completed last friday at the cost of $5850. I am going to capture diminished value. a third party appraiser is compiling a report for me, I should get it tomorrow. what tips, experiences have you had- how low do they usually counter to my request?
TIA.

One time my coach of my XC team was driving a college van, and backed into a Chevy 1500 and took off. There wasn't any damage to the van... not even a scratch. But I think it messed up the Chevy. It was a E-350 van btw. Built Ford Tough...

yea my car was in a parking lot. the bus took the corner too tight, backed up to 'correct' and backed over the front end--exhaust pipe thru my headlight.
