hehe, I was watching Die Hard the other day and there's a shot of a gas station sign that has a price of .79 cents a gallon on it. It makes me yern for days of old!

When I got my license in 1971, regular was 33 cents

I had to buy gas to use my parents car.
All the stations were full service and when I pulled in I always said the same thing,
"A dollars worth of regular please."

With todays prices if I told an attendant I wanted a dollars worth of gas,
he would fart and walk away and I wouldn't get any change back either.

It was already $1.30 in 1982 when I started driving. By 1999 it was only $1.17. It went as low as $.95 in 1986. We won't see that again. lol

It took me a couple minutes to notice the plane in the pic. I was too focused on the gas price.

In the summer of 1964, just before my senior high school year, I worled at a Texaco across the street from Wonderland Mall in San Antonio. We pumped gas for $0.16 a gallon. There wasn't a car on the road that you could put $5.00 worth of gas in. The prices today are an absolute screwing of the US public. The oil companies are making absurd profits and there are NO new refineries even on the drawing table. Expect prices to continue to go up until some of our over paid political morons do something about it.

Same here, it was less than $20 for the Ranger. I just wish the gas prices would come down to pre Katrina levels at about $1.70. Note I bought the truck a month before and didn't factor almost double the money in gas when I bought it. I usually spend about $200 a month on gas and about $160 of that is just doing my 24 mile round trip to and from work. Me and the wife take her car almost everywhere unless the truck is needed.....her car gets about 27mpg city and 35 or so on the hwy.

On a side note saw today it went from $3.09 to $3.29 this morning. It might be time to take the tuner back down to 87 octane

So you think the oil companies are making to much money? Why is that? Do you realize the oil companies are publicly traded? If you have a 401k or stocks you could very well own some oil company stock? So what would happen if congress gets its way and puts a windfall profit tax on oil companies? THEY WILL RAISE THE PRICE OF GAS! This is a free market. Let the market work. Please tell me your opinion on why there have been no refineries built. Or oil wells drilled. I will give you a hint: The democrats and leftist greeners want power and won't let us drill or build refineries. I bet over 95% of the politicians that don't want oil drilled for or refineries built are democrats.

The lowest price I can remember for gas was 45 cents a gallon. When I was a young'n I had a go-kart and a minibike before I got my license. Both the go-kart and a minibike only held a gallon of gas but I didnt stop me from complaining about the astronomical price!
