computer help

Hey guys my wife bought me a laptop for christmas. Things were working great until recently.

I will not load most pictures that people post on forums, it however does load some pictures just not many. At the bottom it will have a message saying" waiting for photobucket" or similar" Sometimes it says "transfering from photobucket or xxxxx site". It does this both in firefox and in explorer. It does not time out or anything, it will just sit there as long as I have the page open and never load the pics. I have looked through all the settings and can't find anything that looks to be wrong but I'm not sure what to look for.

Recently I've removed the Norton antivirus demo that was pre loaded and replaced it with AVG antivirus. I've also recently installed Microsoft office 2007. I think that is was working fine after both of these but I cannot remember for sure. I thought it might have something to do with the firewall but I turned it off and still the same results. I have also tried a system restore back to the point right before I installed Office and still no pictures.

It is a HP laptop with Vista, hopefully some of you guys might be able to help or I'll have to spend who knows how much time on the phone with HP and probably someone that I can barely understand to figure this out.

Thanks

First try clearing out your temp internet files.

Do the same pages with pictures load fine on another computer in the house?

same pages load at the PC at my work. I'll try the temp files but don't think that it'll work. I usually try to keep that kind of stuff cleaned out.

I did some googling and although it doesn't seem to be a common problem I did find a couple instances of it but no fix. I'll keep looking when I have more time.

yep that is the first thing I did when I started up the PC. Only used explorer once and that was to download firefox.

In about an hour or 2 I should have some time to mess with this again. Any other suggestions? I plan on firing up the old PC when I get home as well just to make sure it's not something to do with the router(I don't think the router would have anything to do with it but might as well check the other PC)

You could check out this thread.

Then there's this thread. It's about XP but it gave a link to this MS article.

Check out all three before doing anything and decide if they are any help. I would set a new Restore Point before doing anything.

Actually after 2 or 3 days of this, it just started to work. It does seem to be running a little slow but my ISP provider is not all that great all of the time.
I have a feeling it was the provider causing the problems. Anyhow there is virtually nothing installed on the PC except for some of the preloaded programs. I have put firefox, AVG anti virus, Office 2007, and winamp. Thats pretty much it. Thanks for your help. If this starts to act up again I'm going fire up the tower and see if it is having the same issue so hopefully I can narrow down the problem more.

Thanks
