And just what exactly is the purpose of not being able to buy alcohol on Sunday? They already do it around here and I have yet to be able to figure it out.

Blue laws, dude. Trying to enforce moral standards. When the idea was first thought up sometime in the 17th century, Sunday was looked upon as a holy day - you should be worshiping your God of choice on the sabbath, not tipping a few cold brews back with your buddies. I think it's ridiculous myself, but meh. I just stock up on Saturday, or if I have to make a Sunday beer run, go 20 minutes west to Alabama.

I have to go east for a lottery run. Hey Q, next time I'll meet ya half way and we can exchange goods.

BTW, good answer on the "dealer breaking the plugs" thread.

You can get "by the drink" drinks in restaurants in most areas. The ban is on grocery stores / liquor stores.

Zip code for Georgia: mine is 30022

It is that way here in Texas. Funny story...
We were at the beach camping and I'm having a cold beer 10am sunday to help fix my pounding head. The Galveston cops roll up and inform me I am breaking the law by having a beer on Sunday before noon. He made me pour it out and drove back by keeping an eye on me until noon. So not only will they decide when I can buy the beer but apparently on state property you can not even consume it. Highly doubt I would have been interrupting any sunday beach church services

This is not a "Sonny Do" and even if it passes the Legislature most local govt's, especially down here in middle and south Ga would not allow it.
Heck, here in good Ol Warner Robins Ga the Mayor (aka "The Don") said he would'nt even allow a referendum on sunday sales in restauarnts. Apparentally he knows it would pass and he couldn't deal with a decision he didn't make. Needless to say I will be actively working against him the next election.
