Maybe Toyota in Nascar is not that bad

Well after watching the race yesterday, the Toyota thing kind of put a little spark in the sport again. It was actually fun routing against the Toyota teams. Seems like the Toyota teams are a little better this year and there could be some good hard nose racing, it will be fun pulling for the domestics (Ford). Not to start a flame thread, but I think that Toyota should not be in Nascar. They are not an American car company, they may build a few here, but still not an American car company. Toyota is still labeled as a Japanese car company. One of the written rules of Nascar was that the car manufacturer raced, can on be an American car manufacturer. I am sure Bill France Sr is rolling in grave right now, along with all the other good ole boys that founded Nascar. I think in the future Nascar has it hands full, because it won't be long before Nissan, Honda and even Hyundai come to the table and say that they build cars here and they want a piece of the pie. But until then, I am going to get some tickets this week for Pocono and Dover and maybe get back into for a bit..

Yeah the Yota's did pretty good yesterday. I agree that it's not gonna be long before you see Nissan and Honda in the mix. It won't be long and they will realize the advertising gains that come from Nascar. There is just such a large fan base with racing that they really can't afford not to have their cars in the mix.

i just want to see a toyota car blow up soon. I want to see montoya keep being the huge douche that he is, REALLY hoping he does something to stewart because he will get his *** beat then. I was enjoying hating on gibbs yesterday, but when they were about to win, i was pissed beyond belief. Im sure that was a little because bowyers winning car was spun out.

Just as NASCAR went mainstream and is not just for "good ol' boys" anymore, I bet that Toyota, and soon Honda and Nissan, will begin to work there stuff inthe sport. Honda has made it big in other racing forums....maybe this will light a spark under Ford, Chevy, and Dodge---not just on the race track but in the car market, as well.

Get over it. Toyota is here to stay. Complaining and whining like a baby only makes you look like a baby.

Maybe the other manufacturers will finally step it up a notch, particularly Ford.

Thast funny right dare.
I agree (goo -goo -waa) Toyota will be here forever and i think it just made the sport more watchable than ever before. As long as U.S. sponsored cars do it right they have little to worry about. Its all good!!!

Comment's like these are always good for a laugh. Let me see if I follow.. Toyota is so great they will force others around them to improve... interesting thought. Care to explain what Toyota does so well, what will they bring that will force the American companies "particularly Ford" to step it up?

Ford has been behind the game for a few years, and now Toyota is in the show with all their power and $$$ and now Gibbs racing. Who has the upper hand?

Behind the game in NASCAR or in the car market in general?

Well one of the reasons Toyota is here for expansion. Nascar is trying to reach in to the Asian audience. It is more clear now why Nascar was running the Japan race. They were trying to lure in more fans, now by adding Toyota to the circuit the Japanese may be more drawn to the sport. The Nfl is trying to do the same thing by adding games in Europe, Canada and Mexico. Some may not know this, but the NFL wants to play the Superbowl in London next year. I don't think this is going to sit pretty well with some fans..

OK, that I have no opinion on as I am not really a fan. I thought your comments dealt with Ford falling behind in terms of technological advancements in the car industry in general. Carry on, carry on

I can't stand watching cars turn left all day long. BORING! I think there are a few races where they actually turn in more than one direction though.

I use to think the same thing till I went to a race. Then I was hooked. I think I really got into it in the mid 90's. I use to drink at a bar near my old house and we all would get together at the bar on Sunday to watch the race. We had all kinds of food and we would draw numbers for the top three. Everyone got drunk and talked nonsence, It was kinda fun, especially at the North East coast in February and March, when there is nothing to do in mid winter..
