Damn man. $740 a month for that?
You can't rent an apartment for less than that?
A couple of years ago when I was going to FSU $740 could have gotten you a nice single luxury apartment in a newer building. Dorms blow!

i made it one semester in a dorm. somthing about being crammed in a 8x15 room with another guy and having people constatly bothering you just drove me over the edge. i usto go sit in my truck in the parking lot, smoke and listen to music. it was my own little slice of heaven

With that kind of money, I'd just get a small pop-up camper or truck shell/body, generator, heater, and be happy.
Would be a little smaller... but at least it is peaceful... and you can change the views outside your windows anytime you want.
a friend of mine (who's a little older) told me about a guy that he went to college with that did the whole camper thing... he would "camp" wherever for like 3-4 days.. then goto an actual camping site with utilities so he could shower and stuff.. then go back to camping.... say a campsite 2 days a week at $25 bucks a night... its only 200 a month. I think the kid did this for a semester just to prove he could.
You can enjoy a dorm. Life long friends will come from there. It is rough to live there from time to time. I lived in the dorm for all but one year of my two degrees. I moved out once and got an appartment. Then back to the dorm. Right next to class, no driving, lots of friends just a door down, all you can eat in the cafeteria (at my school anyway), never having to cook, etc...
The pros of a dorm far outweighted the cons for me. Miss out on the dorms and you miss out on a lot of a really great college experiences.

All you people whining about dorms are a bunch of wimps!
Damn skippy! I lived in the dorms for a year, then moved into the fraternity house for a little over 2 years (as House Manager I did have my own room), then to an apartment, then back to the fraternity house for a year, then out into my own house.
Some of the best times I had in college were in dorm rooms

its not that bad at all. I have a private room, so it is like my own apartment. My own bathroom, everything in here is mine, dont have to worry about stuff being stolen, only thing I share with anybody is the bed, wit da woman
haha, i lived in a dorm for a semester then i moved into an apt. my roomates did more coke than al pacino in scarface. i moved into apts off campus this summer with some of the basketball players. it was fun for a time being, but it does wear on you all the partying and what not. this summer im moving in with a few buddies and we like it nice and calm. we too old for this partying every night. we are in "lockdown mode". being fully into my major now, no more partying or doing any of that crap. plus, with a gf, theres really no need to. $750 a month?!? i pay $385 for a fully furnished utlilities included apt. and thats one of the more expensive apts in town. $750, man, you could rent out a decent 3 bed 2 bath house around here for that much. i miss hotwheels.
