Raoul, I think what it meant is the traction control kicked in, not failed.

I was exaggerating about the one inch of snow.

It was actually 5/8s to 3/4 inch.

The weatherman said there was no accumulation but, he was lying his *** off, I swear.

And with the winds blowing 12 to 14 miles an hour we had snow drifts 5 to 7 inchs high.

it usualy happens here within 24 hours of Dallas. I kinda use the reports in Dallas as an indicator of when we are going to get it.

The worst I've experienced was on the Q.E.W. heading home from Toronto just before midnight a few years ago. You could have slapped a pair of skates on and played a game of hockey across all 3 lanes. Pure black ice. There was a vehicle in the ditch every few hundred meters. You couldn't go any faster than 30 mph because you really couldn't accelerate or brake. The scariest part was when the wind would catch the back end and I'd start fishtailing. It happened a lot because the road was slick enough to allow the wind to take the truck. You needed to feather the throttle and brakes and most of the time, coast. It was a white knuckle ride to say the least.
That was back when I had a Dodge 4x4 pickup, but 4x4 meant nothing on ice, other than helping with acceleration.
