Wire Stripper
Wire Stripper

Why the hell didn't I buy one of these years ago? I paid $1.50 or somthing for a pair a few weeks ago at Big Lots. SOOOO much better than any other wire stripper or a razor blade.
I've known about thse automatic wire strippers but never bought a pair.
If you don't have a pair, get a pair soon.
haha thats funny. I also have been using the regular wire strippers for a long time and I was fine with it but... the other day I found one of those in my bed room somehow it just got there lol I dont know how. But yea I thought it was something for my moms scrapbooking at first but my friend came over and told me what it was. I was almost in shock lol I was able to strip 5 wires at once in 2 seconds...
I cringe when I see people using those style of strippers. They are ok for home use, but if you are working on higher end electronics or anything that is sensitive thermal wire strippers are a must. I never really thought there was much of a difference until I worked on very sensitive equipment and noticed how much signal noise you get from the tiny nicks and straightened braid that happens when using those strippers. Unfortunately thermal strippers tend to be very expensive.
I guess the Navy made me way too picky when working on electronics.

I can see where they may be harmful to delicate wiring but I fix trucks and trailers, not delicate electronics. I've never heard of a thermal stripper. I will have to google it. Sounds interesting.
After thinking about it I guess I have used one before. The odd time I've messed with tiny wires on electronics I just heat them up with a Bic and pull the insulation off with my fingernail. I somehow doubt that's what you meant though.

Just another big clunky tool to fill up my box when I can use my regular strippers or even the cutter end of my crimpers just as fast and effective.

Have something just like that, only a different brand...GarnerBender or something, I dont remember. Worked great till one of the damn springs for the 'teeth' broke.
