Need a little input on a situation

Ok so my girlfriend just called me and tells me some guy calls her from a nearby town(aobut 20 miles away, a real small town) and says that when H&R block sent him his tax information that there was about 4 pages of My girlfriends info. in their also. She thought it was a prank call at first but he started telling her her address and her SS# and other info. like that. If the they would have sent this to the wrong person they could have done some serious dammage. A stolen Idenity can really scew up someones life. How do you think she should go about this situation. I told her she should probably contact a lawyer before she says anything to H&R block. I figure some of you on here may have some input on this situation as to what she should do.

It's going to cost you $$ just to get the attorney and you'll then have to prove you suffered damage.... I wouldn't bother pursuing this course....

Rather, just tell H&R tha you want them to pay for a year of credit monitoring....... it's a very reasonable request...

I've had this happen to me before - UPS had mis-placed a confidential disk/tape sent by my credit union that contained data for a few thousand members.... the credit union gave everyone a free year of credit monitoring to allay everyone's fears.......
