Im 18 in school I have a job but it only pays the basics truck payment, insurance, gas, lunch ect. I need some saving up cash to get a 8" lift. Know anyways, anything goes!

if you are 18, in school, but can barely pay the basics, dont get an 8" lift. It will only put the truck in the classifieds a month and a half after you get it.

yea wait a while, dont make a big purchase just yet, trust me.

Your 18...Go for it!!!

There's all kind of ways to earn extra $. What can you do? What do you do?One of our younger field guys collects all the wiring scraps and such for the copper value, about 2.50 a lb. He made 500.00 in January in scrap.

best advice I can offer is to forget the idea of sinking money into your truck. It's money lost...you'll never get it back. At 18, your truck is what's important, but you have to look down the road more...look at what is going to be important in 5 and 10 years, because it will be here faster than you think. (heck, Im only 24 and I can definetely see that) Save those dollars for the future, you will definetely need them; spend on your truck only what it takes to maintain it regularly and that's it!

Built54...where did you go to school in Indy? I had a buddy from high school (Fulton, Mo.) that went up there for automotive stuff(can't remember exactly what he was studying)

My 22 year old nephew is paying dearly now for the toys he bought a few years ago. He's $20k in debt and is working for $9 an hour and has exactly one vehicle to show for it - a 99 Explorer Sport which his mom GAVE him. His *lifted* 03 Explorer and his crotch rocket both got repoed.

Dude, I'm not sayin' go crazy with it but I think investing a little in a vehichle at your age is what we American's do. If you grow out of it when you get older consider yourself lucky because it's an expensive hobby!!!

Who hasen't moded they're car when you were that age!!!:rocker:

built54 02-06-2008 10:16 PM
