New Recall

Has anyone heard of the new recall for the cruse control problem? It seams that the wiring harness they installed to fix the original cruse control problem is defective on some vehicles.

A recall on the recall, eh? I have not heard either but my CC is working fine. However, I do 99% city driving so no real opportunity to even use CC.

Didn't the original CC recall have less to do with your CC failing and more to making your truck like your name?

Here's one that Ford should recall. The stearing collum on my 2002 Explorer broke while I was driving. It's a good thing I was only going about 25 mph. After I had talked to a few people in the know has said this has happened before. It is very expensive to replace. It is damn near impossible to find a used collum because as soon as it gets in the junk yard they are sold. I called ford and got nowhere with them. If this happens on a freeway it would be very bad.

You should really get that done Keith. It takes 5 minutes at any dealer. There was a thread around here a few months back about a guy's f150 who caught fire as a result of not getting it addressed. I know you love your truck as do I, and I think if my engine caught fire I would probably cry.

Yes, there is going to be another recall on some of the trucks that had the recall done already.Something about some of the recalled parts being defective.

Here is a link

Something else... *some* of the vehicles that received the fused harness for the repair had wiring that was not compatible with the repair. In those vehicles, the fused harness locates the fuse in the ground side of the circuit instead of the hot side of the circuit, thereby failing to provide the intended protection in the event of a short. The vehicles affected are:

92-98 Crown Vic/ Grand Marquis,
92-95 Town Car
93-95 Taurus SHO
93 Bronco
92-03 Econoline vans with gas engines
93 F-series trucks with gas engine
95-97 F-series stripped chassis with gas engines

I guess someone forgot to look at the schematics on those....

The fix is to install a different fused harness or an apropriate replacement switch.

-Joe

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same recall then. As Squirrel indicated, it should only be a 5 minute fix. At least the initial recall was, maybe this is something different. A day is outrageous if it is in fact the same recall Squirrel and I had done.
