Just something I've noticed

I don't know if the rest of you have noticed it, but there are lots of F150 Super Crew's with problems. Some of the problems may be a little trivial and other pretty serious sounding. Never-the-less, it's only Screw owners posting their experiences with problems. I couldn't find any of these complaints with Lightning's, Harley's or Super Duty's. Are we getting a bunch of junk with the Super Crews?
I've been pretty fortunate with all of the Ford trucks that I've owned. I guess I should consider myself very lucky compared to some of these other guys. No problems at all, no warranty work and only a couple recalls in the past.
I guess the Screw forum is made up of XL, XLT, Lariat, Limited Edition. The Harley is also available in a Super Crew why aren't they having to same type problems?

the harley is of higher quality :) btw why are you saying supercrew kind of in a way to idenfity an f150. There are more f150s than just supercrews..

Arca_ex Feb 3, 2008 08:42 PM

Well I would guess part of it is because there is no SuperCab or Regular Cab section.

Yeah, my F150 emblems needed replacing because the black paint came off, and I had the e-brake TSB done. I didn't realize these were only Screw related :lurk:

Only because all of the complaints of problems are on the Super Crew forum.

Good point. Any problems are shared amongst all models. It's all there in the 04-present forum.

i do believe higher end fords have much better quality than an XL or low end XLT. an explorer XL we had many years ago had to have an engine replacment 4 times and tranny fixed numerous times. I have a good list of problems with my truck. Had a horribly loud popping and cracking noise coming from my tailgate, had that fixed. Paint on my passenger door peeled, had that fixed. Window switch was slow, had that fixed. Transmission was rough, had to get a reflash. Somehow i continue to get water leaking into my door cup holders  . Now i have a passenger window problem  . Im not knockin the truck or anything, i just want to get out of this. 48000 miles on it, i want to get the hell out of it before something more expensive breaks...

My XLT has been perfect for me.

It is silly to think a lower trim level has lower quality than a higher trim level, they are built on the same assembly line and 90% of the components are the same no matter what trim level you get. Also, common sense says the simpler trim level with less systems to fail would be more reliable than a higher trim level with more bells and whistles that can give problems.

Both of my XL trucks had no problems... my '07 XL is treating me well.

Yeah he's right, when I popped my dash off I found cables for the electronic 4x4 switch, cables for a bunch of things I didn't have like satelite radio etc. etc.

They are all built pretty much the same, just with more stuff when you start going up the trim levels.

my 05 scab XLT has been a pain in the ass too. Just a bunch of minor things. The only major thing is the IWE's. Been fixed 3 times already and going back to the dealer this afternoon for the 4th and hopefully the last fix. If they will not replace the IWE's this time I might just trade up for an left over 07( they are having pretty good deals on the left overs).

All F150's come into this world as an XL. The only difference is in what extra goodies go into them before they get to the end of the assembly line.

I had a bad torque converter and my transmission went out at 7000 miles.

Thats the only problem I have had with my XL in 4 years.
