I know when I was in Dhafra they occasionally had the AAFES car sales guys come through and you could get your vehicle pretty cheap plus tax free. Save you a ton of cash in taxes on a 60k truck. Personally there's only a hand full of times that I wish I had a SUV and that's when we have relatives visiting. Otherwise I love my truck even when it just stock. Any SUV throws you into a soccer mom status though. If I was you I'd buy a nice used 4 door F150 or a 08 since with the 09 coming out it's going to drop prices. My truck was $21k used out the door in early 06 where 2 years early it was like $37k.

I would also recommend buying a house. I haven't been to Ft. Riley but around here if they move me I'll just turn the house into a rental. Then I'll have a realtor handle everything for me. I've been in a while and I could kick myself for not buying a house before now. So for 15 years of service I'm just now getting something to show for myself. That's 15 years of house payments down the drain. I have a cousin that did that when he was in the AF. When he retired he had like 10 houses around the world all being paid for by the people living in them. He ended up selling them all off and now he's sitting pretty nice retired after 30 years of active duty.

I havent kept up with the navs, but unless they changed body styles, why not buy an 07 with low-no miles instead of an 08. It should save you a good bit of money, plus i know fomoco has price cuts for military. And theres always guys on here who would give you an aplan number to use as well. Good luck over there and stay safe. You guys are all in my prayers.
