try bhphoto.com fantastic prices.

I have a Canon Powershot A640 and it takes great photos for a point and shoot. They have the A650 out now with a 12.1MP sensor for $309.95.

I got a Fuji fine pix 5700 for a gift and it is pretty decent. It it a SLR type and works well. It has come down in price, I think she paid like $279 but it can be found now for like $220.00. Should be just fine for just normal pics..You can also get a free printer out of the deal with a rebate..You can also read the reviews, most of them are good ..

i have the canon eos rebel 10.1 mp. but i paid 800 for it because my 35mm rebel lens would interchange with it. so now i have a bad a$$ camera with a 300 mm lens with a wide angle lens. me and my wife fight over it all the time. to me, if i want a good camera, just go ahead and spend the money the first time and get a good one. one that you can upgrade with with out having to upgrade the whole camera.

For a point-n-shoot I have a Casio Exilim and it works great. Very fast startup and small enough to carry anywhere. Great picture quality. Very reasonably priced.
