HD-DVD. Yes? No?
For now, I'm happy with my Beta player and Atari. I don't know why people are making a big fuss about picture quality this, picture quality that.

Disney has backed Blu Ray since day one! And yes Blu Ray has officially won the format war. But dont expect things to change that fast. There are too many movies exclusive to HD-DVD right now. Its going to take a while for them to fully relaunch all those titles to Blu Ray.

I went shopping today at Best buy and circuit city.
The cheapest Blu Ray player is the PS3 at $400.
I think I'm just gonna buy a HD-DVD player for my XBOX 360 off ebay. They're cheap and most come with a few movies.

BluRay movies out sold HD-DVD movies every week in 2007. Blu-Ray sales in the USA generally outpaced HD-DVD by 2 to 1. Since the Warner Bros BluRay announcement... BluRay sales have outpaced HD-DVD sales a staggering 6 to 1. HD-DVD didn't even have one movie in the top ten HD movies last week.
HD-DVD is a dead format. Over 70% of movies are Blu-Ray exclusive already. Retailers will now force the remaining holdouts to switch to BluRay if they want shelf space.
FYI: I own both formats and highly recommend the PS3 if your looking for a Blu-Ray player.
**** has ZERO effect in this generation format war. It had a role in the VHS/Beta battle years ago. But that was long before the internet and no other form of home video existed. VHS hollywood movies were $50 - $70 when the format started.
HD-DVD and BluRay both look great. If your HDTV is only 720p you won't notice much if any difference from a standard 480i DVD that has been upscaled via one of the newer players. Both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players will play older DVDs and upscale them). Don't toss out your current library. But if your new HDTV is a FULL-HD 1080p the picture can't be beat in BluRay or HD-DVD.

It is pretty obvious who is winning this war if you go to any store there are easily twice as many blu ray movies vs HD-DVD if not more. I got my tv when the first playstation came out so I am seeing no benefits on the games or movies on my ps3 but I plan on buying a new tv when I get a little extra cash.
