Did you expect central heat/air in a 60, 000 dollar home that looks like it was built in the 30's?

60 grand for a 4 BR 2.5 Bath house. I'd be on that like white on rice! Where in Ga is this place? Its either in a small town or eat up with termites.

Valdosta, Georgia. I think basically it has no amenities. Just walls and windows. It's in the Ghetto of the city, ironically. But seriously, if I had money and know how to do a flip, I'd take it.

It must be some quality construction, seeing as how it's over 2000 years old.

Yes military personnel can still qualify for VA loans and most times they have pretty good interest rates. However, VA loans are hard to get with some homes. The VA is very restrictive on the condition of the home they will lend money on. If you want to buy a fixer-upper the VA will most likely not loan the money for it because the home will not pass their inspection. We financed our home through Ditech, we got a better interest rate than the VA was offering at the time and we didn't have to go through the VA loan application process. It takes a bit of research to decide exactly which lender would be right for you and the VA is not always the best choice.

My garage has better heat than that house... our house has got 2 A/C compressors and 3 furnaces, going on 4 for the poll barn this summer.

We got 1 90,000 BTU gas furnace for our old part of the house, we got 1 90,000 BTU for the new extension, and 1 60,000 BTU for the garage. All are forced air. The two for house are the ones with the compressors. They are all Carrier systems.

We might get rid of the two small furnaces in the house and get one large, commercial furnace and A/C unit with air exchangers and such.

totally off topic, but theres a metal shop in town here. someone there got pretty bored and built a 2,000,000BTU wood/ coal furnace that can be hooked up to a blower and/ or a water boiler. whats cool, when the design got tested it proved to be 89% efficent. sad part is if you crank it up you can burn a face cord in a week.
