http://www.cycletrader.com/
I have sold two bikes on this website...very pleased with how quickly they sold. They were street bikes. I had to edit when I saw you wanted an offroad bike. Try Craigslist.com and watch it for several weeks to find the right deal.

For the Houston area, try this Craigslist link

http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/

Watch the post for a few weeks, and usually you will find what you are looking for. Hope this helped.

The standard site for any used vehicle pricing is Kelley Blue Book

http://www.kbb.com/

Wow, am I a dunce. Thought he was looking to buy...then I reread.

Just a friendly tip, but most dirtbikes will sell for more than blue book. I dont know why, but that has been my experience. Used bikes also run less in West Texas, and more expensive in metro areas such as Houston.

I bought mine off of cycletrader. Definately buy used though. There's so many folks out there that have to have the latest and greatest that they upgrade every two years. Bikes that are loaded with aftermarket options will go for about half msrp after 2-3 years. Huge depreciation. Plus, older bikes run great as well, especially if it's your first dirt bike. I'm running a 98 two stroke and love the heck out of it.

i road dirt bikes for years and lost interest.
i bought my son a bike for christmas and it stinks sitting on the back of the truck for 3 or 4 hours watching him ride.

i am looking for either a 2000 - 2004 honda xr400 or a 2000 - 2006 suzuki dr400. at 41 with bad knees, I have no desire to get a motorcross bike. I have a travel trailer and i really like trial riding. cant think of to many things better than loading up and me and my 11 year old riding all weekend.

I ride a '02 YZ 250 that I bought at the beginning of '07 for under 2K. Got it from the local Yamaha dealer. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. I use it for trail riding and the track. Works great for both.

I work for a Honda powersports dealer. We use NADA to establish used bike retail values and trade in values. I suspect other dealers use the same....
