All of this has been done without the declaration of war from Congress that the Constitution clearly requires, in defiance of the U.N. Charter and in violation of international law
Screw the UN! The terrorist of 9/11 should have bombed the UN building...with a French plane.

The UN is a farce; a complete waste of money and of time.

McGovern
It happened in part because the Bush-Cheney team repeatedly deceived Congress, the press and the public into believing that Saddam Hussein had nuclear arms and other horrifying banned weapons that were an "imminent threat" to the United States. The administration also led the public to believe that Iraq was involved in the 9/11 attacks -- another blatant falsehood.
A retort to McGoverns comment by using Hillary to explain it.

Hillary on Youtube.com and her vote to invade Iraq. Sorry for her flipflopping.

More Hillary info
Senator Clinton’s militaristic stance on Iraq predated her support for Bush’s 2003 invasion. For example, in defending the brutal four-day U.S. bombing campaign against Iraq in December 1998 – known as Operation Desert Fox – she claimed that “[T]he so-called presidential palaces … in reality were huge compounds well suited to hold weapons labs, stocks, and records which Saddam Hussein was required by UN resolution to turn over. When Saddam blocked the inspection process, the inspectors left.” In reality, as became apparent when UN inspectors returned in 2002 as well as in the aftermath of the invasion and occupation, there were no weapons labs, stocks of weapons or missing records in these presidential palaces. In addition, Saddam was still allowing for virtually all inspections to go forward at the time of the 1998 U.S. attacks. The inspectors were withdrawn for their own safety at the encouragement of President Clinton in anticipation of the imminent U.S.-led assault

A footnote about McGovern...
He lost in a landslide to Richard Nixon, who in turn fell to Watergate but whose name is immortal, synonymous with scandal and savvy despoiled, whereas McGovern's notoriety recedes with each passing year. Like most presidential nominees who never won the big prize, he has become less a major figure than an intriguing footnote for all but the most passionate political junkies, another answer to a set of trivia questions whose correct responses include the names Dukakis, Mondale, Humphrey, Goldwater, Stevenson, Dewey, Willkie, Landon, Smith, Davis, ***, Parker, Bryan, Blaine and McClellan -- the good, the bad, the forgotten.
Because he is a NOBODY, McGovern can say whatever he likes...and no one really pays attention...

the U.N. seems a little sterile at times. but it is nice for the different smaller voices in the world governments to be heard. it is a good organization.
slow to use power quick to help a neighbor.

it has been left to the U.S. to carry the brunt of policeing the world.
we tried to be an isolationist nation. we ended up helping [determining factor] in two world wars. all the flak we get now is from trying to balance the power in the free and evolving world.

just a dumb swamp rats view

The UN has done a wonderful job in the Sudan and Rwanda. The UN is a leech on the US economy. We fund them mostly, hold their offices in NY, and end up catching the flack for the crap they screw up or refuse to acknowledge. Off topic, but couldn't resist.

You can't impeach a President because you disagree with him or you don't like him. He has not committed an impeachable act. To speak of impeachment is only trying to roil political waters. Just stupid.
